Cabeza Prieta Wildlife Refuge |
The Cabeza Prieta National Monument protects local desert areas. The reserve protects wildlife, including the Quitobaquito pupfish, Pronghorn, various birds, and 21 varieties of snakes. Visitors must possess an access permit to enter refuge, and can be obtained from the visitor center located at 1611 N. 2nd Ave. in Ajo.

Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is right on the Mexican border, and features wonderful desert vistas, plants, and wild life. The national monument is part of the International Biosphere Reserve and includes ranger programs, hiking, camping. Visitors can discover the wonders of the Sonoran Desert. The park has dry camping available and hiking. National park fees apply.
